Proudly hosted by
The Luxury Branding Research Centre, Curtin University and Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI), Tokyo, Japan
The Mystique of Luxury Brands Conference is an event where academics and luxury industry professionals convene for academic and industry keynotes, industry panel discussions, and academic paper presentations. The Mystique of Luxury Brands Conference 2026 will be co-hosted by Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI), part of Keio University, the oldest private institution of higher learning in Japan.
Planned events include, but are not limited to, a keynote speech by Toku Yusui, a master craftsman of Kaga Yuzen, one of Japan’s most prestigious traditional kimono dyeing techniques, an award ceremony for the best paper, as well as gala and networking dinner events.
Luxury Branding Research Cluster (LBRC)
The Luxury Branding Research Centre (LBRC), based at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, is dedicated to advancing research excellence and societal impact in luxury branding. Aiming for global significance and international recognition, the LBRC specialises in key areas including beauty and well-being, fashion and lifestyle, and luxury food consumption. The Centre fosters international collaborations and industry engagement, serving as a nexus for research partnerships.
The Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI)
Despite Keio’s prestigious 155 years of tradition, the university remains at the forefront of innovation in its teaching and research. Driven by its founder’s commitment to jitsugaku (empirical science), there is no better place to hold an academic conference. Further, the university’s philosophy of jiga sakko (creating history to define the future) is also reflective of the very essence of luxury branding.
The Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI), established in November 2016, serves as a university-wide platform connecting faculties and graduate schools. In 2024, Keio University launched the Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS), funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), under the vision of becoming a “research university that forges the common sense of the future.” Through this initiative, KGRI is strengthening research infrastructure to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting the societal implementation of research, and fostering a research ecosystem that enables collaboration across the university and with leading institutions in Japan and abroad.
